Two different things, but both relate to vault.
1. I don't know if this has been suggested before, but what would you think of doing 2 rounds for vault finals. Everybody does 1 vault, then everybody does their second vault- kind of like diving. Unless it would for some reason cause more injury, I think it would be both more interesting and actually more fair. I think it would be exciting to see gymnasts decide what to do for their 2nd vault based on how everyone did on their 1st.
2. Vaulting tie-breaks. I couldn't tell for sure from the livestream commentary, but was taking the higher vault score the first tie-break, or were other tiebreaks used first, but they remained tied so they had to go to this one?
I think if you have to break ties, taking the highest score is one of the absolute worst ways to do it as it rewards the gymast who had the lowest score (similar to 2012 AA finals). Particularly on vault because lots of gymnasts can do one great vault. The point in vault finals is to show proficiency on more than one style of vault so to cut one vault out entirely to break a tie goes against what the event final is asking for.
