More to Vitaly Marinitch's 'resignation' from OTC

This deserves a separate thread from the Dr. Nassar abuse investigations, though it's another incident of Steve Penny and USA Gymnastics trying to cover their asses.

This comes from the latest episode of GymCastic just released today. It's worth listening to if you want the specific details:

Alaina Legendre (Steven Legendre's wife) says she was sexually assaulted by Vitaly Marinitch at the hotel bar after 2014 nationals in Pittsburgh. She was with Steven and Jake Dalton and his wife at the bar. She saw Vitaly Marinitch at the bar went over to say hi to him at the bar and make conversation like most friends would. Clearly he was drunk and at some point put his arm around her then got bold enough to his hand down the back of her pants (not once but twice). Steven knew about it right away and confronted Marinitch who seemed to brush it off as no big deal.

There were meetings with the men's committee, Steve Penny, OTC coaches, team members, and others to address the incident. Marinitch apologized various times (including personal apologies) to the Legendres, but Steven says he learned from teammates about other similar incidents Marinitch has had with women. His wife's assault isn't the only one.

Marinitch was removed as head coach of the men's World team and even prohibited from traveling internationally for a period, but he managed to go to Rio and coach as usual. He then submitted his resignation from OTC after the Olympics to pursue other opportunities, but the Legendres pretty much imply that his voluntary resignation is bullsh-t and Steve Penny/USAG are trying to hide the real story. Plus the Legendres say too many people know about the Pittsburgh incident at this point that it can't simply be swept under the rug anymore.

As of yet law enforcement hasn't been involved in any of the alleged incidents. Alaina says she was apprehensive of speaking up until now because she didn't want to jeopardize Steven's career.
