A few things are going on lately with hopes of reviving artistic gymnastics in Belarus.

For one, Nellie Kim recently went to Minsk to meet with the Belarusian Gymnastics Association to assess the current situation of the artistic gymnastics program. She's well aware the program is far what it used to be during the Soviet days and early years of independence. She mentions how Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, and Kazakhstan provided the most talent to Soviet gymnastics.
Right now the main goal is to get an understanding of where the program is and determine some goals for the 2020 quad. She hopes everyone will study the current trends and developments in world gymnastics. She also thinks it would be a good idea to introduce some foreign influences.
Also, Ivan Ivankov recently left his associate head coach position at the University of Illinois (Daniel Ribeiro took over). I've heard for a while the Belarusian Gymnastics Association was trying to lure him back home to help with the program's revival. Surely enough, Ivankov went to Minsk to negotiate a contract starting in 2016 though the details aren't known yet. There are also talks of getting Vitaly Scherbo involved.
