Individual event World and Olympic Medal Records since 1950

I was bored, so I decided to spend several hours making a list of all the individual event Olympic and World Championship artistic gymnastics medalists since 1950 and then rank them (gymnasts that have won 10 or more). There were a couple of surprises (Nadia didn't make the list; how dominate Vitaly Scherbo was). Some of the current gymnasts are keeping pace with the former ones despite the harder code of points and advent of specialists. Gymnasts post 1992 had the advantage of yearly World Championships though.

musings time: can it, will it ever happen again?

Forgive if this has been discussed here before (and it probably has), but the recent passing of Vera Caslavska got me wondering if will there ever again be a two-time AA winner? My all-time idol, Ludmilla Tourischeva, couldn't do it, Nadia couldn't do it, and I wonder if the very advanced, very hard gymnastics now might have something to do with this? I realize that the beam and floor have changed since the "old days," but all that hard tumbling and hard landings must have negative effects on the joints, etc. The body must give way sooner or later. And the clock doesn't stop ticking, but it was wonderful to see "older" gymnasts in the recent Olympics performing at such a high level. Any thoughts?

Post Olympics: The New Journey Begins

It seems to me that there are more countries are in a transition mode than in recent memory.

Russia: the veterans that have been carrying the load are burned out. Will the younger generation be able to step up to the plate?

US: post Marta. She and USAG appear to have done a good job paving the way for her successor. A strong system is in place for the next person.

Romania: where do I even begin? It would be better to gut the system they have and rebuild from the ground up. Just like the US did in going to the Level system and adding TOPS. While B&B were great coaches, the program was too dependent on them. It appears that not enough effort was put into developing younger talent.

China: Rio is viewed as a failure but one which they will learn from. A poster on WWGym said they filed a letter of inquiry about scoring and received feedback and will make changes accordingly. They were crushed by the early draw. On the bright side, they are regaining their consistency. I hope this continues.

Will the Dutch be able to continue their rise?

Just watched a Shannon Miller Oklahoma Up Close interview in which she was so well spoken. I think Nadia, Shannon and Simone just come off as really nice and classy ladies. Any other ones I'm missing?

Greatest event specialists?

Seeing the post about Simone Biles' place in the history of gymnasts, I wonder how we should rank the EF specialists.

And who is the greatest EF specialist in the history of this sport?

I can immediately think of them:
* Ponor
* Cheng Fei
* Sacramone
* Chusovitina (but she did quite well in Beijing AA)

More recent examples are Sanne Wevers.

Should I regard Oleysia Dudnik as an AA gymnast or EF specialist?
