Gymnastics Australia

So Mihai is done as of November: http://www.gymnastics.org.au/Ga/Post...AUSTRALIA.aspx

I'm wondering if someone like a Mary Anne Monckton or an Allana Slater would be considered for a job like this? Why not get an Australian whom has been through the system in recent years to try and right the ship? that said, I was surprised they did as well as they did at Worlds, starting on beam, first subdivision, injuries, etc.. Yet only finished one spot way from qualifying a team..

Nelli Kim Olympic Channel podcast

https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas...vC7GVPVZJyNjL0

Have y'all heard this?

There are moments that left me speechless.
But I LOVE what she said at 22 mins about coaches needing an education in psychology and about the need for the coach to adopt a scientific approach towards their athletes. AMEN. That is a concept that could and really should be evolved by the FIG.

Team GB

After these worlds, the men’s team has two spots pretty much taken. Barring injury, Joe Fraser since he’s a good AA gymnast and now a World Champion and Max are basically on the team. The hunger games fight for the other two spots will be interesting. Obviously the remaining members of this years world team have an advantage over others but it will be a dog fight that’s for sure. I can’t believe FIG thought it would be a ‘good’ idea to make 4 member teams.

2019 Worlds - Men's Qualifications

Anyone watching Russian men?

Nikita just rocked a gorgeous floor routine, but still with room to improve. 14.9. He looks cleaner overall on floor than last year.
Dalaloyan doesn't look quite as sharp to me as last year, but had a good set for a 14.733
Abliazin didn't even compete. Just touched and saluted. I take it David is alternate or too injured for floor?

Live Scoring:

Subdivision 1 has just completed.

1 Australia 157.945
2 Ukraine 156.961

Australia not counting any falls, but some routines could definitely have been better...

Ukraine having to count two scores in the 11s on beam ... Otherwise pretty good on the other events...

Godwin & Varinska look good for AA final...

2019 Worlds Prediction Contest - I forgot again: TEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY!

I forgot again! I'm sure I would have remembered once prelims started and I wasn't messing around with spreadsheets, haha. But happy to get this up in time; thanks London2012!

It's been TEN YEARS of Prediction Contest fun! Thank you to everyone who has had fun playing this little game!

We're using Google Forms again to submit predictions so visit the links below!

Click HERE to submit your predictions!

Reminders for this year:
- I will NOT be accepting ANY forum submissions for predictions as long as the form is working well. If you post your predictions in this thread but do not submit them via the webform, your responses will NOT be entered and recorded.
- PLEASE save a hard copy of your predictions elsewhere in case the spreadsheet goes paflooey. I suggest copying them into this thread, but remember that I will NOT be using them as your official predictions unless something goes wrong (and I will notify everyone if that is the case).
- You CAN edit your predictions after you make them; just make sure to save the "Edit Response" link when you first submit so you can access it later. Your unique link will work up until I close down the ability to edit.

Rules for the actual point tallying are the same as before, which I will quote below:

Quote:

The rules are really simple. You post your predictions for the medal podium of each event, plus one alternate per podium.

Points
5 points --- each correct medal prediction
2.5 points --- each correct top 3 prediction, but incorrect medal prediction
.5 point --- if your alternate wins a medal.

For example, in '10 this was my AA prediction:

AA:
1 Musty
2 Bross
3 Aly
Alt: Jiang Yuyuan

The actual result was 1st: Musty, 2nd: Jiang, 3rd Bross. I received 5 points for correctly predicting Musty's medal position, 2.5 points for putting Bross on the podium but in the wrong position, and .5 points for having my alternate Jiang medal, for a total of 8 points. I didn't receive any points for Aly, since she didn't make the podium.

In the case of a tie for a medal, you still only receive points for each correct PLACEMENT. If Kyla and Simone tie in AA and you had them 1-2, you would receive 7.5 points for correctly predicting the gold medalist but incorrectly predicting the silver medalist (which would correctly be no one). If you like to tempt fate, feel free to put ties as your prediction BUT you may not have more than 3 people per podium plus one alternate (i.e. no eight way tie for gold! :p ;) )

Predictions are locked the day after prelims are completed, (before MAG TF starts) with NO EDITING ALLOWED. This gives everyone the best idea of who will be competing for the medals, but does not account for last minute substitutions due to federation swapping or injury. You are not required to predict your podium out of the official start list but may substitute anyone as you see fit; heck, put anyone on there! Do as you please. :)

The contest will run for WAG and MAG, and then one combined for those who submit in both categories. You are free to predict all the events or just a few; whatever you like. :) No deducting points for wrong answers, so why not? ;)
Predictions will CLOSE at (time TBD but right before MAG TF starts. You are welcome to make any changes to your predictions up until that point, but not after. Absolutely no editing or substitutions after the closing time will be allowed, so make sure you double and triple check! :)

Looking forward to another fun year!

The Biles on beam is...an H??

They gave Simone's double-double off beam an H. Which is insane.

Or, as she put it: bull****.

What is the logic here? Is it just that they had such a hard time breaking the G barrier on beam? If the double tuck is a D, and the tucked full-in is a G, then...
The Biles on beam is...an H??
