1992 World Championships

So, I was watching the preliminary videos from 1992 World Championships today, while following along with results at gymn-forum.net.

I was surprised that Gutsu actually qualified into the finals, because I remembered Boguinskaya competing. Then, I looked back at qualifying results and noticed that there were no scores, according to gymn-forum.net, for Boguinskaya. So, what's the deal there? How did Boguinskaya compete without qualifying, and why didn't Gutsu compete, having qualified? Was there an injury and they could sub in Boguinskaya? Does gymn-forum.net not have her qualifying scores in error?

Sorry to post this on a separate thread. I couldn't find the questions thread.

2017 NHK Trophy - Tokyo, Japan

All the main Japanese skipped the Asian Championships in Bangkok to compete at this instead because it's a qualifier for their Worlds team.

Women's AA results:

Mai Murakami and Aiko Sugihara secured their spots for Worlds. Also to note, I believe Sae Miyakawa had a 6.2 D on floor.

The men compete tomorrow.

2017 Osijek World Cup - May 18-21

Next World Cup in neighboring Croatia this weekend.

This one has a pretty good field. I figure Flávia Saraiva won't compete following her ankle injury from a few days ago. Also, Evgenia Shelgunova has replaced Elizaveta Kochetkova.

2017 Asian Championships - May 18-21|Bangkok, Thailand

Some of the major teams and names expected to compete. I'm only listing the seniors for now.

You can find the full list under the work plan: http://ift.tt/2pzHB2U

Women's teams:

CHN Wang Yan
CHN Liu Tingting
CHN Luo Huan
CHN Tan Jiaxin
CHN Liu Jinru

JPN Marina Kawasaki
JPN Koko Dobashi
JPN Nozomo Toyoda
JPN Kasumi Mirohashi
JPN Honoka Koga

PRK Pyon Rye Yong
PRK Kim Won Yong
PRK Kim Su Jong
PRK Jong Un Gyong

Farah Ann Abdul Hadi (MAS) is competing. Oksana Chusovitina is currently competing at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku.

All the top Japanese are going to compete at NHK Cup instead because it's a qualifier for their Worlds team.

North Korea's team is brand new with Jong Un Gyong as the only familiar name (2014 and 2015 Worlds). But it's nice to see them with new gymnasts because they had the same group of 5-6 girls for a couple of quads. I have no idea what the status is of Hong Un Jong.

Men's teams:

CHN Lin Chaopan
CHN Sun Wei
CHN Liu Rongbing
CHN Xiao Ruoteng
CHN Zou Jingyuan

JPN Hayato Uchida
JPN Jun Muraoka
JPN Shuto Horiuchi
JPN Tatsuki Ichise
JPN Hiroki Ishikawa

KOR Jo Yeong Gwang
KOR Park Min Soo
KOR Kim Han Sol
KOR Lee Jung Hyo
KOR Lee Jae Seong

PRK Ri Wi Chol
PRK Ri Yong Min
PRK Ri Kwang Mo
PRK Han Jong Hyok
PRK Jong Ryong Il

VIE Dinh Phuong Thanh
VIE Le Thanh Tung
VIE Dang Nam
VIE Trang Dinh Vuong
VIE Nguyen Tuan Dat

Like the women, the Japanese men are saving their best for NHK Cup. I've not heard of any of their guys except Hiroki Ishikawa who competed at some World Cups and Scam.

Former Bulldog Courtney Kupets Carter named new Georgia gymnastics head coach

"Just as the Georgia football team has Kirby Smart, the Georgia gymnastics program now has one of its own as its head coach.

Courtney Kupets Carter, who competed for Georgia from 2006-2009, was named the program's eighth head coach on Tuesday. The move comes after former head coach Danna Durante was fired on April 24."

Classics

Just wondering for those who have attended classics the past few years in Chicago about how safe the area is. I am trying to convince my family we want to go to classics since nationals are out of the question this year- but I keep hearing about how Chicago has one of the highest crime rates in the US.
