Someone get Nastia out of the booth ASAP

Good gawd I cant stand her anymore. Her fake niceties when everyone close to the sport knows and has seen her true personality, her unwillingness to say anything even slightly controversial (why on earth, when at heart she is one of the biggest beetches ever in the sport, she should bring some of that to the booth which would bring something interesting and exciting to her work, not completely smother it), her tedious clichéd statements, her submissiveness to Tim and Al, how boring and unoriginal everything she says is. She is awful. I would even rather Elfi back at this point, and I cant believe I would ever want the Terrible Trio reunited, but atleast Elfi gives us things to complain about with some of her controversial statements.

Amanda Borden did some work for NBC in place of Nastia last year. She should replace her full time. I guess she wont though since they would rather an Olympic AA winner in the booth than someone whose biggest achievement is the 7th girl of the 7 women Mag 7.

The Zika virus and the Olympics

Some people are suggesting that this year's Olympics should be cancelled. The Olympic Committee says that if any athlete chooses not to participate, it won't be "held against them", whatever that means when it's many's life dream. The real danger to me seems like the huge amount of people from all over the world there to watch the Olympics, who would then return home, and potentially bring the virus virtually everywhere in the world in one fell swoop.

So... here's a thread to freak out about the possibility of the Olympics being cancelled, discussions on whether it should be held somewhere else (London seems to still have the infrastructure in place?), venting of anxieties of people who have tickets to the Olympics, or ranting of those who just want the Olympics to go on as normal... etc.

Al Trautwig again (and again)

I have played my recording of the recent World Championships many times since last October, and I have come to the conclusion that good ol' Al Trautwig is really there because he has a good voice to do the commercials and not because he is that great a commentator on gymnastics. As I have said, I am just now getting into gymnastics again and needed you to enlighten me as to why Al Trautwig was commentating with Nastia and Tim. Would those two even be allowed to do commercial announcements, even if they had the voices for that? I do pity them, though. It is enough for them to talk about the performances while having to suffer through Al's lame attempts at humor--Tim: "The British, they are COMING!" Al: "I believe that's been said before." Yuk, yuk. And something Al said puzzled me. He said to Nastia, "It always irritated me that you wore pink." Huh? I know she wore a pink leotard in her AA winning Olympics, but why would that "irritate" anybody? Tim and Nastia laugh at Al's asides (with effort) though I admit I don't see the humor in them. I also must admit that the more I run that tape the creepier Al seems to me. He seemed to be obsessed with the youth of the Chinese gymnasts, especially Shang Chunsong. He said her name many times, even when it was not really necessary. Was he trying to prove to the audience that he could actually pronounce "Shang Chunsong?" Yes, Uncle Al, "She's a Chinese gymnast, and she's YOUNG>" Back in the old days it was referred to "jail bait" or "San Quentin quail." Brr-r-r--

Who Used This FX Music?

I read that one of the Soviets in the 1980s used "Hooked On Tchaikovsky" from the Hooked On Classics series and thought I wrote it down somewhere and now can't find it and would love to check their cut. Does anyone know who it was? Thanks in advance.

Anyone going to P&Gs/Men's trials in St. Louis?

Is anyone planning to go to St. Louis for men's trials or women's P&Gs? Curious if anyone knows whether all they offer are all-session tickets or if you can buy individual event seasons closer to the date? (Yes, I searched all over their website and don't see an answer, nor do I see a contact that I can ask this question to.)

Thanks!

Aside from Flavia, Rebeca, Chuso, and Dorina, I’m *very* excited to see the senior debut of Yana Horokhova.
